We’re accepting 2 part-time fall interns to train, work, and toil alongside BlackDog’s social activists on the Serious Play for Serious Girls project.
Among their exciting duties, our fall interns will help research, write, edit, proof, design, publish, and digitally distribute “The Case for Play”- a vivid, playful, research-based fact book explaining why play matters, why it’s serious, and how it affects the lifelong wellbeing of girls (neurologically, psychologically, sociologically…). From assisting with the initial research to mailing out the final product, this team will bring existing skill sets to the table and participate in the concept-to-reality development.
Interns will work from BlackDog’s Elmwood Avenue Lab, located at 565 Elmwood Avenue, in Buffalo, NY.
As part of the challenging work experience, these internships will offer opportunities for hands-on training in: research, collaborative content engineering, content strategy, writing, editing, not-for-profit management, brand development, brand management, professional networking, public relations, and editorial design.
The Case for Play will be similar in nature to our Threats to Girlhood Report, which you can scope out via Issuu: http://www.issuu.com/seriousplayforseriousgirls/docs/threatstogirlhood.
In addition to training and work experience, interns will receive editorial credit in the finished and portfolio-worthy Case for Play.
Ideal candidates will be enthusiastically interested and available to work 8 to 10 hours per week, from mid September to mid November.
To apply, please send your resume and a brief email introduction explaining what you hope to contribute to the project by way of skills, talents, passions, and/or interests. Resumes and inquiries should be directed to MaryJayne Zemer at MaryJayne@SeriousPlayforSeriousGirls.com
